WestEd works with education and policymakers on a variety of issues, including ensuring that all students have a challenging mathematics and science education. WestEd has 17 offices nationwide, from Washington and Boston to Arizona and California. Its corporate headquarters is in San Francisco. Additional information about WestEd is available at http://www.WestEd.org. Expertise in mathematics A leader in education research and development since 1966, WestEd has been supported by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, numerous private foundations, and various states to help improve the quality of mathematics. Dr. Steve Schneider, WestEd's Program Director of Mathematics, Science, and Technology, was selected to represent the National Eisenhower Mathematics and Science program on the U.S. Department of Education's Expert Panel to review and identify programs that improve student achievement in mathematics. "The Learning Zone is a good example of a new direction that maintains a clear focus on WestEd's mission and our commitment to making a difference for students. Algebra is considered a 'gatekeeper' course that can make the difference between students going on to higher education or not. The stakes are high and many students are struggling." - Glen Harvey, Chief Executive Officer, WestEd Privacy Policy | Disclaimer | This site and its contents copyright WestEd 1995-2007.
